![]() beat xenoblade future connected. did NOT expect to see a ton of named npcs from the sidequests in the main game be in this and as main, voiced characters. even bana was there, i was FEASTING on the callbacks. the new characters are good also. i cry every time they talk about riki being a good dad. seeing shulk grow into the adult of the party is also really cute. love my kids. also love the ponspectors, i love being followed by 14 nopon all in a row the music was great (i think they remixed the final boss theme into the alcamoth theme but i'm not sure if that's a new song); the bionis shoulder was great - i got Very Excited every time i recognized something from the og unfinished area. my only disappointment in the area itself was that there wasn't more giants' lore, which has always been the biggest reason i was interested in this area, but oh well. i kind of was underwhelmed by the plot, but mostly with the Villain, since the point of this epilogue seemed to be melia's feelings and coming to terms with her role in all this. that part was good! the main villain itself however just felt kind of weird since it's not explained what it is or where it comes from. i was expecting some kind of connection or nod to one of the other games, but it never happened... i had to look this up to figure it out, but it shares a model/shape with a random ass boss from xenoblade 2? although said boss...
but anyways like idk it kind of underwhelmed me to not have even a morsel of a hint at what this is supposed to mean for the xeno 1 world or the series as a whole. maybe it's a teaser of "xenoblade 3", and if the connection i pointed out is valid then maybe that will lead to cool stuff in the grand scheme of things! but in the context of just xeno 1 or just this epilogue, it was kind of "ok whatever" tbh. the post-final battle scenes being voiceless and/or still images kind of killed the momentum/triumph too imo, though i assume they did that because they couldn't/didn't get the voices for the rest of the xeno 1 cast lol. or maybe they had to rush the ending, idk but i was sad.. one other thing i was disappointed about: its that tyrea CLEARLY could have the seventh party member's moveset and i feel like the game teases you constantly about her possibly joining you but she doesnot join your party aaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhh. she does finally get really good resolution here tho so i am happy about that. OVERALL i had fun with it but it just reaaaally made me want to replay the main game haha. starting at level 60 and being able to jump right back into my typical melia build just made me Yearn.... it was also cool to remember that xenoblade can be difficult, i've been playing with broken/maxed builds for so long lol. the FASHION ARMOUR is the best part of this remake tho i can already tell, i had a lot of fun mixing and matching armour sets. i've also found out via the wiki that you can use the fashion armour feature to wear temporary weapons/armour so i'm REALLY looking forward to that in the main game... ![]() i guess on that note, i was surprised they didn't talk about melia's new weapon at all?? it's like front and center on promotional material and it is clearly based on the monado, so i was thinking there would be some explanation for it... but no... it's super rad though and is a step towards fulfilling my old wish of all the party members having monado-styled weapons, so you can bet your bottom i am putting it on main game melia once i get her!!! heck yea!!! i was going to wait til after paper mario to start the main game but i got through future connected faster than i thought i would so i'm going to start it... right now!!!!!! bye everybody!! |
